The First Omen (2024)

The First Omen Plot Summary The Omen, which was released in 1976, like any other film, is expected to have a good share of sequels and remakes, and it’s presumably easy to guess when the film was originally released that a sequel would find its way to the audience. This is not to say that Arkasha Stevenson, the director, reset the expectation and definite character and plot orientation of The First Omen (2024) is not a nice thing, as its purpose is a prequel and it quite manages to be quite interesting and not as subtle as the title suggests. Furthermore, it can also go with its narrative while making others want to see the original even more.

It portrays Margaret, a young woman who is about to become a nun, who is leaving for Rome to take her vows. She signed up with several other nuns working at the Vizzardeli Orphanage, but then she learns that they all abuse one of the children who happens to be Carlita. One look at the child prompts her to want to help the girl who reminds her of herself at one time in the past. All of a sudden, however, she perceives herself as part of an elaborate plot that attempts to bring the antichrist to the earth. There is a faction of the Catholic Church that thinks that this lascivious act will make people interested in religion and more importantly in their organization.

Who is the cursed child?

The church, as per the plans, intends to conceive or create the antichrist through a woman who would later also be the mother of this banny. The child is believed to be an offspring of a strict Christian woman with a jackal, and later in her life will be raped by the same jackal to carry the evil spirits and be destined to be the antichrist.

Margaret follows Carlita’s every move during most of the movie which qualifies her for that position. Or rather, it used to be the case up until the moment when she learns that she is surrounded by people involved in the abduction and that it is her child that has been designated for that purpose – she is left with even stronger feelings about the situation. Furthermore, since a lot of bizarre incidents occur around the kid, it is quite difficult to rule that she is not to blame.

As expected, only the cursed child of the abandons is absent Carlita is, thus, Anton’s little daughter. But only one of them. It is obvious that Margaret has also been affected by the curse, but she has been hidden by the church for a deeper purpose. As if that was not bad enough, by that time she had already been impregnated. So, for Margaret, the only choice was to accept her inevitable fate before she was able to speak out against it.

Do the demons win The First Omen?

A cult splinter of the church abducts Margaret and coercively does it to deliver a male antichrist. Somewhat of a shock, she gets born twins, a boy, and a girl.

They manage to get the boy since he is the priority and plan to kill the girl later. To thwart their schemes, the woman kills Cardinal Lawrence, one of the responsible people, with a scalpel and retrieves her baby. As she tries to kill him, she has her moment of hesitation, which allows the nun to stab her in the back. While they manage to get away with everything, she is clamped there and made to burn together with her daughter. Fortunately, Carlita comes to her aid and rescues Margaret and the girl.

This ending presents to us a fast progression towards the first The Omen movie. We view an American diplomat, Robert Thorn, having his infant appear to have been swapped with the young anti-Christ without his knowledge. Eventually, as Carlita and Margaret are having a joyous supper along with the baby, they are graced by an unwanted guest. Father Brennan, who is a good priest and offered assistance previously comes to inform them about some developments. The evil faction is in the knowledge of their survival and the child now has a name; Damien.
