Kung Fu Panda 4 Summarised Plot It is with great enthusiasm that fans embrace the release of Kung Fu Panda 4, with Po as the Dragon Warrior Panda and Zhen the fox thief as its protagonists, the movie portrays kung fu animation at its best yet. This time, however, the stakes are high as they also have to deal with an antagonist, a shapeshifting chameleon sorceress who is nigh unbeatable.
The movie starts on a high note with Tai Lung’s return which instills confidence in the Goats, prompting them to surrender their iron willingly. As Tai lung makes his return, Po finds himself in the middle of opening a new restaurant in the valley of peace with his two fathers Li Shan and Mr ping. Their plans are however thrown a curveball with Master Shifu appearing with a new task he wants done by Po.
What’s bothering Po?
To the shock of Po, Master Shifu’s next words indicate to him that he is prepared to select his successor as the chosen Dragon Warrior, which further pens down the demise of Tai Lung. Furthermore, Master Shifu articulates that, ‘it is not so,’ ‘after becoming a holy figure, it is your responsibility to preach inner tranquillity,’ and so on. In the face of Tai lung’s impending demise, Po is more concerned about giving away his resources, as well as the plans he has for himself and his responsibilities.
Further, Po seems to be shaking in his shoes as he has to take on the role of a preacher now. He has always been a good warrior all his life, but fails to feel confident when it comes to the role of a spiritual advisor. Now, he has to acquire this new skill and teach others, despite his apprehensions.
What provoked Zhen and Po to partner with each other?
During the ceremony where the selection of the next Dragon Warrior takes place, Po is being too over stimulated and as a result goes off to a tree to find some calmness within himself. He puts his hand up to concentrate, but this is rather interrupted when he sees a lady called Zhen who is a fox, trying to steal stuff from the antique weapons hall. Zhen tries to run away but Po catches her and discovers that Tai Lung is indeed back thanks to some goats’ gossip.
There is strain in the voice of Po because, after all, he had defeated Tai Lung before and sent him off into the spirit realms. Zhen, who seems to be on the side of Po, warns him that it may be Chameleon, which is a sorceress that can change her shape. As Po begins to question Zhen for even more aspects related to Chameleon, he discovers Zhen has quite a bit of knowledge about her. Po and Zhen make some bargain where she agrees to lead him to Chameleon in Juniper City provided he does not lock her up in a cage.
How did Zhen get to know Chameleon?
After the agreement, Zhen and the stranger leave for the dangerous expedition to reach Juniper City. Meanwhile, from the Valley of Peace, Po’s fathers manage to leave and start their quest for him in Juniper City. Following a series of events, Zhen and Po eventually reach Juniper City. But Zhen is there as a wanted criminal and discloses the information to him.
For the first time, the busy city is a shock to Po who has spent most of his life in the peaceful valley. The moment they land in the city, they find themselves being pursued by the police, but run away safely after a funny chasing drama. Zhen introduces Po to her alleged relatives who greet her with aggression at first. But with the help of Po’s encouraging words, the relatives pacified and consented to the Two spending the night with them.
Come the next day, Po and Zhen go visit Chameleon’s lair, which is supposed to be where Zhen takes Po and Zhen ends up being in a cage. In the plot twist, Zhen sells a potent Stache to Chameleons. It is explained then that it was Chameleon who adopted Zhen because she was an infant in a shelter and raised her and taught her all hunting, fighting, and cunning tricks.
Who becomes the next King Dragon?
Chameleon confesses that when she was a child, she had a big desire to study Kung Fu but unfortunately, her expectations were crushed because of her petite stature, people always teased her. So she went the route of witchcraft and was skilled in it. Though she was able to take on the appearance of Tai lung, she was not able to master his battle abilities because of Huang Fu’s performance, which comes from the spirit instead of the flesh. As Po is locked inside the cage, he uses his fists to hit the ground, making an opening large enough to get out of there.
He attacks the guards in a fierce skirmish as he makes a break for it. But Zhen appears out of nowhere, holding a staff, telling Po to forgive her. Almost instantly the real Zhen appears and identifies the first as the Chameleon. Then, Chameleon pushes Po from the palace over the edge, causing him to fall to his death. Chameleon goes back to her place and as the blood moon rises, she steps through the door to the spirit world. She encases the souls of Tai Lung along with other villains of Po in enchanted cages.
At the same time, Po is also great news because he did not die but was cut off from his side and left hanging in a tree in the valley and his fathers saved him. Zhen, who now knows the power Chameleon has acquired, attempts to prevent Po from going head-on towards Chameleon. Being the stubborn man that he is, Po ignores her advice and proceeds to the castle. Zhen and Po’s fathers wait for their so-called ‘family’ to help them build their army, Po, on the other hand, leaves for the castle.
In their confrontation, Chameleon gives Po the stash which he seeks, only because she has already succeeded in everything she was planning. A great deal of chaos breaks out as Chameleon’s shape shifting enables her to become every single person whom Po has faced. Even with the shift in her shape she is overpowered by Zhen and Po. Although this was the case, Chameleon later on became an evil version of Po and caged him yet again.
With Chameleon subdued, Zhen takes the stash and shows him how well she can defend herself. Once Chameleon’s magic was done, Po was pulled out of the cage and their tactics were put into action. In this scenario, Po even gets to restore the kung-fu skills of his opponents and in turn receives their respect. When they reach the valley of peace, Po returns the robe to Zhen and she claims to serve her jail sentence but Po had other plans for her.
Even though Master Shifu does not want him to, he chooses Zhen as the next Dragon Warrior. Po tells Zhen that everyone, even Master Shifu, is going to change their minds. The film ends with the wonderful five, Zhen, Po, and their friends training Zhen as the next Dragon Warrior.
