Vengeance Most Fowl Plot Summary
With a runtime of just over 70 minutes, Wallace and Gromit are losing money in the movie. Wallace is more reliant on technology, and his latest invention, Norbot, might be their saving grace. This smart Gnome is capable of doing all the tasks by himself, and he has caused quite a stir in the community. Suffice it to say, this plays out as expected when Wallace bites off more than he can chew.
He has certainly been biding his time behind bars at the zoo, and he is now destined to make his move as soon as he spots the opportunity, the Norbot robots breaking the news headlines.
As a result, there is a race between Wallace and Gromit trying to stop Feathers from achieving his ultimate goal, which is obtaining the blue diamond yet again.
What happens at the Blue Diamond Exhibition?
The Blue Diamond Exhibition is iconic and is described as the grand finale for Chief Inspector Mackintosh’s career. Everything here has been set up for a grand finale as the Chief presents the Diamond back where it should be, in the museum. Only… there’s a problem. The diamond itself has been replaced with a turnip and the Chief has never bothered to check it all these years. So, what does that mean? It turns out Wallace has had the diamond this whole time!
An old teapot is where this diamond conveniently happens to be and has been all this time. Feathers placed it there before being arrested, switching it while Wallace and Gromit were at the police station. The real play here was to make Wallace take the blame as the Evil Inventor, while he gets away scot-free with the diamond.
How is the climax set up?
Feathers, along with his Evil Blue Norbots, have taken Wallace and Gromit hostage. Mukhurjee and the Chief decide to fix this mess. They rush to the aid of our favorite duo and try to stop Feathers on time. Funny enough, the bike saddle snatcher has already struck, so the Chief has to ride pillion.
A combined effort from Wallace and Gromit results in them breaking free, and with the help of the good Norbot (the green one), they set out to intercept Feathers. A short chase takes place on the canal where, in place of fast-paced trains, we get a slow “sprint” along the canal, which is amusing in its own right. This is a delightful, comical twist on 1993’s Wrong Trousers and effectively pokes fun at chases in action movies. How does Wallace help turn the tide?
Wallace regains his confidence and invents something new: two boomerang-like contraptions that double as boots. These reset the switches on the Norbots, turning them good once again. Unfortunately, Feathers also manages to attach a motoboat engine to his cape, turning it into a motorboat and zooming off. Gromit, however, manages to grab hold of the boat and gets pulled along for the ride.
After this lengthy chase, Gromit is left holding onto the boat right next to a bridge while Gromit is clinging to the canal for dear life. Feathers escapes with the diamond, and Wallace is left steaming on a steam engine, realizing how badly he underestimated his so-called “technology.” In his blushing rage, he compliments Gromit, telling him he is indeed his best friend, while the other Norbots come to the rescue of Gromit at the last possible second.
How does Vengeance Most Fowl end?
In a brilliant twist, it’s revealed that Gromit had the last laugh all along. He played Feathers by switching the diamond for a turnip just like he did so many years ago, leaving the villain with nothing. The penguin is now forced to leave the train, and this marks the end of the infamous train robbery, having gained nothing but freedom from the casually useless turnip.
Well, Mukherjee shines as she becomes a noted officer by showing her credentials, while Wallace and Gromit are freed from their troubles. The cops seem to have a grip on the situation, as Feathers is still on the loose and in multiple disguises. The Chief too, claims his honor and reputation back, retiring with the claim of ‘model policeman’. Losing his instincts is not something he does even in retirement.
In a fashion that is mostly a repeat of Mukherjee, for Wallace, the lessons learned can be termed as… ‘kind of’. While he still proudly boasts all his gizmos and gadgets, technology is his love, though he has the old-fashioned human touch. A good pat from him to Gromit shows the pair, for once, looking balanced in life. But… Feathers are still out there.
